A Lower Body Lift can be performed to remove the excess skin and fullness of the lower hips and lower back. This surgery lifts the buttocks, smooths the lateral thighs, and can be combined with abdominoplasty to flatten and tighten the abdomen with one incision.
1. Indications for Lower Body Lift
a. To reduce excess, loose skin of the hips, back, buttocks and lateral thighs
b. To reduce excess fatty tissue of the hips, as well as the back region.
c. To improve overall contour after childbirth or weight loss.
d. To improve lower body appearance by creating a smoother, tighter contour to the hips, buttocks, and thighs.
2. Procedure Summary
a. A Lower Body Lift is performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient in the Plastic Surgery Center of West Georgia Ambulatory Surgery Center.
b. Every precaution is taken to ensure patient safety.
c. An incision is made in a belt-like pattern from lower abdomen around to the back region and the excess skin and fatty tissue is removed. Overstretched skin is tightened around the body.
d. Patients usually go home with an On-Q Pain Pump for optimal control of pain in the first 72 hours.
3. Recovery
a. The patient is placed in a compression wrap that will stay in place until the next day post-operative visit.
b. Patient is given several levels of pain medications for proper and effective pain control. Most patients find the discomfort quite tolerable.
c. Light activities may be resumed within a week. In two to three weeks, patient may slowly resume normal activities and be unrestricted at 4-6 weeks.
d. Sutures or tapes are removed in a week to ten days.
4. Administrative
a. Lower Body Lifting is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance.
b. Fee Quotes are given at the time of consultation and range from $6,500 to $8,800 (depending on what adjunctive procedures may be required). This generally includes the Physician Charge, Facility Fee, Anesthesia Fee, Pre-Operative Visit, Post-Operative Visits for Up to Six (6) Months, Dressings and Garments, and Pain Pump Costs.
