Nose Contouring and Reshaping can be performed to reduce or change the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip or bridge of the nose, narrow the size of the nostrils, or alter the angle between the nose and upper lip. 1. Indications for Nose Contouring and Reshaping Surgery
a. To improve the overall contour of the nose.
b. To improve the size and/or shape of the tip of the nose, the bridge of the nose, and nostrils.
c. To achieve a more proportionate angle between the nose and upper lip.
d. To improve airway obstruction in reconstructive nose surgery.
2. Procedure Summary
a. Nose Surgery is performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient in the Plastic Surgery Center of West Georgia Ambulatory Surgery Center.
b. Every precaution is taken to ensure patient safety.
c. Small incisions are made to expose the nasal architecture to be modified. Shaping is performed by cartilage rearrangement or precisely placed cartilage grafts. Bony modifications may also be used to improve the shape of the nose.
3. Recovery
a. Special dressings will stay in place until the next day post-operative visit. The splint will be removed 5-7 days from surgery.
c. Patient is given several levels of pain medications for proper and effective pain control. Most patients find the discomfort quite tolerable.
c. Light activities may be resumed within a week. In 1-2 weeks, patient may slowly resume normal activities and be unrestricted at 2-3 weeks.
d. Most swelling and discoloration will subside over 7-10 days.
4. Administrative
a. Nose Contouring Surgery is considered a cosmetic procedure and is normally not covered by insurance. If nose surgery is recommended for airway obstruction, it may be covered by insurance.
b. Cosmetic Fee Quotes are given at the time of consultation and range from $5,500 to $8,500 (depending on what adjunctive procedures may be required). This generally includes the Physician Charge, Facility Fee, Anesthesia Fee, Pre-Operative Visit, Post-Operative Visits for Up to Six (6) Months, Dressings and Garments.
